~ Update classic outerwear pieces by going for the crop this coming season
~ Reproportioned outerwear lengths are key to the emerging multilayered look
~ Layer short over long for a new play on proportions
Reproportioned lengths are a key look this season, with cropped outerwear emerging as a strong product direction. Influenced by the women’s catwalks and y outh sty ling, the look is easily translated into the kidswear market as a key silhouette direction for girls.
Reinvent classic outerwear pieces for autumn/winter 2011/12 by going for the crop. Play with proportions to give a new lease of life to girls’ wardrobe staples, repositioning them as key fashion pieces. Crop every thing from classic denim and baseball jackets, to the aviator, the biker, the military jacket and the cape. Style short lengths over longer lengths to create new multilayered proportions. Complete the layered look by teaming cropped outerwear with tunics or sweater dresses, layered over leggings or skinny jeans and miniskirts for a head-to-toe play on proportion.
