Women Who Inspire

K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers honors three women in apparel industry.

On the same day Hillary Clinton made history as the first woman to make it to a general election, another group of women were being celebrated in New York City. On Tuesday, June 7, the 10th Annual Women of Inspiration Luncheon put on by K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers, Inc., a non-profit that supports people affected by poverty or tragedy, honored three apparel executives for their support. Louise Camuto, chief creative officer of the Camuto Group (and wife of Vince Camuto), Claudia Stern, intimate buyer at Gabriel Brothers, and Luanne Whiting-Lager, vice president and CFO of Regal Lager were all recognized, not only for the products they donated but for their personal contributions as well. “It would be easy to be discouraged, exposed as we are every day to stories of hardship and sadness, but every day we also have the privilege of engaging with women of inspiration,” said Lisa Gurwitch, president and CEO of K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers that mobilizes fashion, home and childrenswear companies for its causes. “Women like Luanne, Claudia and Louise and our event chairs Karen [Bromley] and Carole [Postal], who devote their resources, their business acumen and their energy enable us to do our part, to make a difference in a simple yet profound way, to recognize the humanity in each person and to share something useful and special; a symbol of hope that will improve a life.” Since 1985, K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers and its apparel partners have donated $1.3 billion worth of products serving the poor and disadvantaged worldwide.
