Wal-Mart and the Wal-Mart Foundation announced a $25 million giving campaign. Aimed to fill the gaps created when schools close for the summer, the funding will go to more than 350 local nonprofit organizations that support nutrition, learning and employment services for all school-aged children during the 2011 summer months. In addition to providing eight million meals to low-income or inner-city children, the donation will also give access to summer learning programs to 20,000 children and provide summer jobs to more than 5,000 inner-city youth in Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, New York City and Washington, D.C.
