Toys ‘R’ Us Acquires KB Toys Brand

Via its wholly owned subsidiary CE Stores LLC, Wayne, N.J.-based chain Toys ‘R’ Us has purchased the KB Toys brand, an acquisition that includes KBToys.com, trademarks and other intellectual property rights. KB Toys had filed for bankruptcy in December after a sharp drop in sales. The deal does not include any of KB Toys’ 460 retail locations, which were closed and liquidated earlier this year.

Toys ‘R’ Us has not yet determined how it can best utilize the KB Toys brand in conjunction with its other properties. For the time being, the company stated shoppers looking to access KBToys.com will be redirected to Toys.com, a site run by Toys ‘R’ Us. Visit www.toysrus.com.
