The Wizard of Oz Celebrates with New Licenses

To commemorate the movie’s 75th anniversary in 2014, Warner Bros. Consumer Products is adding to its roster of licensees. The master toy licensee, Jazwares, will produce several 5-inch dolls, role play accessories, and play sets based on the film. Other doll licensees include: Mattell will also be making Barbie dolls in the likeness of Dorothy, Glinda the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch of the West in the movie; the Alexander Doll Company will create plush dolls based on the film; Tonner and Adora will fashion high-end dolls; and R.J. Wright is producing a Dorothy dolls with her very own Toto. A train set featuring a yellow-brick road themed track by Lionel Little Lines will also be available, as well as Round 2 toys and accessories, a Chylling plush and jack-in-the-box, puppets from Puppet Heap and a Wicked Witch plush bear by Steiff. A Monopoly game based on the classic film starring Judy Garland, which will feature a farmhouse and Emerald City play pieces, will hit retail shelves next year as well. “No film in history is more recognizable than The Wizard of Oz, and in the lead up to its milestone anniversary, we are working with a number of key licensing partners to commemorate this legendary story,” says Karen McTier, executive vice president of worldwide marketing and domestic licensing at Warner Bros. Worldwide Consumer Products. “We are so thrilled to build a licensing program that will allow fans to celebrate the magic of Emerald City for years to come.”
