Yesterday Minneapolis-based Target celebrated the grand opening of 27 new stores, including its first two doors in Hawaii, in the cities of Honolulu and Kapolei. The stores include 21 general merchandise stores and six SuperTargets, which have a full grocery inside.

While Wal-Mart Stores Inc. continues to report the highest retail sales in the mass-market sector, with a 5-percent gain in February monthly sales, Target Corp.’s loss of 4.1 percent for the month was better than analysts’ projections. Falling gas costs have been cited as one reason for better-than-expected performance. Visit www.target.com.
