Spin Master Picks Up Major Licenses

Spin Master has been named master toy licensee for two feature films: Monsters University and How To Train Your Dragon 2. The company struck “one of the biggest” deals with Disney in its 18-year history together for the prequel to Monsters, Inc., which is set to come out in July 2013. Dreamworks’ How To Train Your Dragon 2 will premiere sometime in 2014. “We’re all very excited about 2013 and the relationship with Disney,” says Kevin Jones, Spin Master’s UK MD. “It’s a massive breakthrough for the company, to be positioned at the same level as some of those major competitors who would have had that license in the past. It’s a testimony to where the business is.”
