OshKosh B’Gosh announced Cranes for Kids, an initiative to help families in Japan and raise awareness of children affected by the recent tragedy. For every paper crane the brand collects by April 25th, the company will donate an article of children’s clothing to earthquake and tsunami victims. OshKosh B’Gosh hopes to donate up to 50,000 pieces.
Cranes are a symbol of health and well-wishes in Japanese culture. Michael Casey, chairman and CEO of Carter’s Inc. said the cranes will be displayed in Tokyo stores to show that children in the United States, and around the world, have the people in Japan in their thoughts and prayers. “We hope Cranes for Kids offers a positive way for parents and teachers to discuss this tragedy with children and empower them to help,” he added.
Origami instructions and materials are available for free at all OshKosh B’Gosh stores. Cranes will be accepted at stores from March 29th to April 25th. Families can also participate and find instructions online on oshkoshbgosh.com/cranesforkids or by visiting the OshKosh B’Gosh’s Facebook page, where participants can also post a photo of their crane.
