Barbie and video games top NRF’s 2011 Top Toys survey. Conducted by BIGresearch, the survey shows that consumers are looking for a mix of classic and contemporary children’s gifts, including Apple iPods, which appear on boys’ and girls’ lists, and iPads, the tablets that girls listed as a "must-have." Tried and true toys, including LEGOs, VTech Educational toys, Disney Princess products and American Girl dolls make the cut, too. Elmo makes a comeback at number eight on the boys’ list and number six on the girls’ list after dropping out of the top 10 in recent years. According the survey, 43.1 percent of consumers plan to buy toys this season.
