The mobile company is set to develop several apps for its popular franchises, including the preschool series Sid the Science Kid and Pajanimals. The downloadable “appisodes,” available on iTunes, will include games, activities, stories, animated videos and music. The first app launching in April, “Sid the Science Kid’s Slide to the Side Appisode,” will coincide with the release Sid the Science Kids: The Movie on DVD. “We recognize the importance of delivering a quality experience to kids that fits into their lifestyles and allows them to engage with our characters not just on TV and on DVD, but also on the iPad,” says Melissa Segal, executive vice president of global consumer products at The Jim Henson Company. “In Mindshapes, we have a partner who is not only a leader in digital media, but also has a keen understanding of how to engage our young audience so that they are learning and having fun.”
