LOL Surprise Dolls Dominate Cyber Monday Sales

The item’s parent company, MGA Entertainment, received six placements in Amazon’s 2019 Holiday Toy List of the most anticipated toys.

In an age where virtually everything is accessible and wish lists make gifting more ho-hum than ho-ho-ho, it’s refreshing to know that kids still want to be surprised. LOL Surprise Gifts showed up as key items on Amazon’s Cyber Monday, which broke records as the biggest shopping day in its history. (Across all retailers, Cyber Monday sales soared to $9.4 billion, nearly 20% more than 2018, according to Adobe Analytics, with the four hours between 10pm and 2am driving 30 percent of that.)

Independent third-party sellers got a boost too, with mostly small and medium sized businesses reaping more sales than ever before on a single day.

The LOL Surprise fandom actually comes as no surprise, as the item’s parent company, MGA Entertainment, received six placements in Amazon’s 2019 Holiday Toy List of the most anticipated toys, including LOL Surprise 2-in-1 Glamper Fashion Camper, Rainbow Surprise Dolls, LOL Surprise O.M.G. Swag Fashion Doll , Poopsie Unicorn Crush, Little Tikes Tasty Jr. Bake ‘n Share Kitchen and Activity Set and the LOL Surprise Super Activity Studio Set.

Overall, toys remained a hot category on Amazon, as shoppers ordered “hundreds of millions of items” between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday off their phones and computers, more than ever before. Among the tens of millions of toys purchased during this time period, best-sellers included Lego Star Wars Darth Vader’s Castle, Monopoly Game: Disney Frozen 2 Edition and Hasbro games such as Jenga, Guess Who and Candy Land Kingdom of Sweet Adventures.

“We’re focused on making this holiday season more convenient than ever for our customers, especially given how short this holiday shopping season will be,” said Jeff Wilke, CEO of Amazon’s Worldwide Consumer division. “We are thrilled that customers continue to come to Amazon in record numbers to discover what they need and want for the holidays.”
