Internationally renowned children’s charity Kids in Distressed Situations (K.I.D.S.) is coordinating relief efforts in the wake of the 9.0 magnitude earthquake and 23-foot tsunami that struck Northern Japan, leaving half a million homeless. The organization is asking retailers and manufacturers to provide donations of desperately needed new products, and for the public to provide monetary support to the long-term relief effort, by visiting www.KIDSdonations.org or calling 212-279-5493. The charity is also soliciting individual $5 donations by texting ‘ALLKIDS’ to 85944.

“For children who have lost everything in the devastating earthquake and tsunami, a new blanket or outfit means the entire world,” said Dr. Janice Weinman, President of K.I.D.S. “As we mobilize our global network of resources to aid in this massive relief effort, the generous support of our donors will ensure that we are able to provide essential clothing and goods that children and families need in order to begin rebuilding their lives.”
