The Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA) recently hosted a summit in Washington, D.C., providing an update on various regulatory and legislative issues affecting the industry. The event involved a keynote address from Consumer Product Safety Commission chairman Nancy Nord and panel discussions regarding Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) compliance.
“Although well-intended, the CPSIA has created unintended industry challenges, including costly testing requirements for lead and phthalates in products that do not contain lead or phthalates,” said JPMA chairman Tony DeSimone of Fisher Price. “We felt it was important to put this summit together to help mitigate the inaccurate publicity and to recognize the importance of our organization’s unwavering commitment to the safety of the products that our members make.”
In addition, JPMA participated in a national rally related to the CPSIA. Attendees had a chance to meet Congressional representative and find out how the requirements would affect them. Visit www.jpma.org.
