Industry to Hold D.C. Rally to Challenge CPSIA Flaws

The Alliance for Children’s Product Safety is spearheading an April 1 rally and congressional briefing to address flaws in the implementation of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) at the U.S. Capitol building. Backers said that as written, the CPSIA is harming business for vendors, retailers and charities, as previously “safe” products must now be destroyed in compliance with the legislation.

The event, organized to urge Congress to take urgent action to address issues posed by the CPSIA, is scheduled to take place Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Capitol Visitors Center, Room HVC201 A&B. Speakers will include Members of Congress, representatives from the National Association of Manufacturers and charitable organizations, small business owners, and product safety and lead experts.
