With an interest in giving back, several industry members have gotten involved with breast cancer causes.

On Oct. 29, El Segundo, Calif.-based manufacturer Heir will participate in “Taking It To The Edge,” a charity gala event benefiting The Wellness Community of South Bay Cities. During the event, Heir (which owns a company-branded store) will partner with other local retailers to present a runway show and will donate to gift bags to the first 500 guests and VIP guests. In addition, Heir will give $5 from every purchase made in the store during the hours of the event to The Wellness Community of South Bay. For further details, visit www.itsattheedge.com.

Meanwhile, Joe Croft and Kristin Hunziker, co-founders of Ju-Ju-Be, a San Clemente, Calif.-based diaper bag company, have been donating a portion of all sales since their business launched in 2005 to support the fight against breast cancer. “While bags and accessories are our business, supporting breast cancer research and treatment is a driving force and passion,” Hunziker noted. Both she and Croft have loved ones who have been affected by the disease. Their donations—culled from year-round sales—have added up to thousands of dollars each year, which Ju-Ju-Be turns over to Susan G. Komen for the Cure and other foundations. Even though times are tough, Hunziker hopes customers will see the added value in making purchases that will also support a good cause. Visit www.ju-ju-be.com.
