On Sunday, September 23, Lester’s held an event to celebrate the Happy Socks’ Fall ’12 collection. DJ Fulano Librizzi spun tunes to entertain the shoppers, staff handed out Baked by Melissa cupcakes, and customers received a goody bag with each Happy Socks purchase and a free pair of the brand’s socks with any in-store purchase. “It’s a great brand – it’s up and coming,” says Barry Cohen, co-owner of Lester’s on 80th Street and 2nd Avenue in Manhattan. “We think there’s a great future with Happy Socks – it’s a great company, has a great marketing director and I think it’s just going to be a great brand for us.” Cohen also noted that the brand is a perfect, fashion-forward pick for the 20-year-old Upper East Side staple. And director of special events at Lester’s, Ann Axelrod, thought the event was an ideal way to kick off the fall shopping season. “We’re always looking for more fun experiences for our customers, and what can be more fun than a 9-year-old DJ and cupcakes – look at the energy in here,” she exclaims.
