Eloise at the Museum

The mischievous six-year-old has made her way to the New-York Historical Society.

Eloise has found her way from the Plaza Hotel to the New-York Historical Society. Sharing her feisty charm with readers for more than 60 years, the beloved picture-book character has brought her audacious spirit to an exhibition running from June 30 to Oct. 9. “Eloise at the Museum” highlights the creative collaboration between creators’ cabaret star Kay Thompson and illustrator Hilary Knight.

The NYHS presentation immerses visitors in Eloise’s world with evocations of the Plaza Hotel’s iconic grand lobby, Eloise’s bedroom (complete with a storytelling corner) and her bubbly “bawthroom,” where she often made mischief. The exhibition showcases more than 75 objects, spanning original manuscript pages, sketchbooks, portraits, photographs and vintage dolls.

In addition, a host of family activities will be offered throughout the exhibition’s run, inviting visitors to explore in creative ways. And, to help make the experience even more unforgettable for young museum goers, the NYHS is stocking its gift shop with an assortment of Eloise dolls and other “must-haves” from NYC-based YOTTOY.
