Dr. Seuss Enterprises of La Jolla, Calif., has promoted Susan Brandt from executive vice president to president of the licensing and marketing division, for which she will continue to oversee worldwide operations for Dr. Seuss Enterprises.

“I believe in what Dr. Seuss stands for: teaching children reading, self confidence, and the wonderful possibilities of our imaginations,” Brandt said. “I am excited about the continued challenge of both guarding Dr. Seuss’s body of work and positioning Dr. Seuss for future growth.”

Brandt has been with Dr. Seuss Enterprises since 1998; prior to joining the company, she ran the home office division for Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation’s Asia Pacific region, among other duties.

The exec plans to lead Dr. Seuss Enterprises into a new decade, beginning with summer and fall promotions to support the 50th anniversary of “Green Eggs and Ham” and “One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish.” September will see the launch of the animated TV series “The Cat In The Hat Knows A Lot About That,” which will air on PBS. Other annual celebrations include Read Across America (March) and the NEA’s Lorax Student Earth Day (April), both of which are partnerships with the NEA and Random House, and engage students in reading and caring for the environment.
