CBME China Draws Crowds

The show experienced a significant rise in attendace…and cool factor. ?

The 16th Shanghai International Children Baby and Maternity Products Industry Expo (CBME China 2016) came to a close on July 22 with positive attendance and a jump in exhibitors and show space. Some 85,111 buyers filed into Shanghai’s National Exhibition and Convention Center to shop a 30 percent jump in the number of exhibitors that filled up a 9 percent increase in show space.

The Licensing Zone at the show also saw growth with more than 50 licensors in attendance, including Peter Rabbit, Big Big Wolf and Thomas & Friends/Fisher-Price.

“Tens of thousands of buyers make CBME China a regular stop on their sourcing calendar as they recognize the purchase efficiency gained by meeting qualified suppliers with quality products that is available at CBME China,” says Athena Gong, general manager of CBME China. “More and more suppliers also launch their latest products at CBME China. This is where they can find the latest trends affecting the industry.”

The third edition of Cool Kids Fashion Shangai.

Stylish international brands are still sought-after by Chinese buyers. The third edition of Cool Kids Fashion Shanghai, comprised of trend forums and fashion shows, showcased more than 70 high-end kids fashion brands from 18 countries, including a sizeable contingent from Spain.

“The demand for the children’s wear in China has shifted from fulfilling basic needs to pursuing fashion and style,” says Aber, marketing director of Shenzhen Perseus Brand Management Co., Ltd., an exhibitor at Cool Kids Fashion. “Nowadays, Chinese kids want to look cool and chic. We have therefore incorporated these elements into our products, which we are bringing to the showground.”

As for seminars and summits held throughout the show, topics included navigating the business of licensing, how to boost retail sales and improve customer experience.

CBME Charity Sales

More than 45 companies donated products to children in need.

Meanwhile, exhibitors and buyers alike bought baby products at a discount at designated sales counters to support underprivileged children in China as part of the CBME China Charity Program. More than 45 companies donated products to the cause.
