The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) in cooperation with IDM Group LLC, of New York, has announced a voluntary recall of the CareBears Pacifier. The recall affects about 119,000 pacifiers manufactured by Chinese company Yi Wu Jiangyi Plastic Co. and sold at various discount and dollar stores, Walmart Puerto Rico, children’s apparel stores and Consolidated Stores nationwide from October 2009 through June 2012 for about $1. The pacifiers fail to meet federal safety standards as the nipples can separate from the base, posing a choking hazard to young children. No injuries have been reported.
