French children’s brand Bonpoint couldn’t have picked a sweeter spot for its latest U.S. location: right next door to famous French patisserie Ladurée, in the heart of super-stylish Soho in New York City. To fête the opening of the charming 1,900-square-foot space, Bonpoint treated an array of fashion notables and local parents to Ladurée’s lauded macarons as they shopped the store’s offerings, including a special capsule collection exclusive to the new store. Featuring 12 limited edition Liberty print dresses, proceeds from the sale of the SoHo 2014 collection will benefit New Yorkers for Children, a nonprofit organization that helps children in foster care with college scholarships, tutoring programs and more. Befitting the French brand’s heritage and style, the store itself is stocked with vintage furniture sourced from Parisian flea markets by the brand’s Creative Director Christine Innamorato. Here, she chats with us about the brands plans for the store and why she thinks parents will be happy to visit.

Q: Tell me a little bit about the limited edition SoHo collection, which benefits New Yorkers for Children. What inspired it, and why do you think it will resonate with parents in the area?
A: I really wanted to create something special for this opening. I thought that it would be wonderful to reinvent Bonpoint’s iconic pieces such as the “peasant” dress by using five different liberty prints, another emblematic signature of the house. New Yorkers for Children defends a great cause. Being a parent myself, I know how much valuable education is. Every parent feels the same—I think they will be happy to help children in foster care while picking up a timeless Bonpoint piece.

Q: The Soho store is beautiful! Why do you think the neighborhood is a good fit for the Bonpoint brand?
A: Soho is such a trendy, glamorous neighborhood. I think it is important for Bonpoint to be there and to bring the house’s spirit and the French touch right in the heart of New York. The Soho store is our fourth address in New York. We have eight boutiques in total in the US.

Q: It’s a great space. Do you plan to offer any neighborhood events at the store?
A: Of course! It’s such a lovely store with the chandelier and the wooden cabin. We always envision our stores as warm, cozy places with a family atmosphere where parents and children should be happy to visit. We will definitely host events and creative workshops for the kids in this beautiful space.
