Edutainment brand Becky Bones, which centers around environmentally responsible messages, has tapped BBC International as its partner for kids and teens. According to Angela Kenney, director of product and marketing, sports lifestyle, for BBC International, “Becky Bones is a perfect fit for BBC because it complements our current portfolio of icon-driven characters and the importance of the sustainable message aligns with what BBC is working on.” (BBC’s current portfolio includes the brands Polo Ralph Lauren, Disney, Guess and Warner Brothers.) The sub-licensing deal also involves Becky Bones original partner, Osiris Shoes.
The manufacturer, which is working on developing a more sustainable supply chain, has been designing eco-friendlier footwear by recycling materials and using non-hazardous and renewable resources. In addition, it promotes a “closed loop” process, recycling leftover and waste materials from the production of many of its collections.
Krista Kokjohn-Poehler, president of Becky Bones—which donates 25 percent of its profits to grassroots environmental programs—said that partnering with BBC will help ensure the brand’s footwear products will be on the cutting edge in terms of both design and sustainability. Visit www.bbcint.com.
