Designer Chat: QUADSis

A chat with Janet Ward of QUADSis.

What are you reading?

Life right now doesn’t leave much time for reading but my favorite go-tos for a dose of confidence refreshers ~ wearing my hat as an entrepreneur or a mom of 2 girls ~ are Claim Your Confidence by Lydia Fenet (love her!), Love What You Do. by Dana Spinola & Raising Worry-Free Girls by Sissy Goff.

What were the last shows you streamed?

Nobody Wants This. on Netflix. Oh my, so good! And I love Sara & Erin Foster. Totally relatable, inspiring, & hilarious women/moms/business owners….

What might people be surprised to know about you?

What you see is what you get, and when we’re together, you get all of me. There’s not an air about me. I’m real & don’t hold back or try to be anyone I’m not. I’m an open book.

I’m actually an introvert. I may come across as an extrovert when I start talking about QUADSis, but it’s only because I’m so incredibly passionate about it!

Who is your most coveted dinner guest?

Easy answer ~ Sara Blakely. Her Sneex shoe launch has had a much different launch than QUADSis, but the story is the same. I’d love to swap stories, share the passion, and brainstorm how to collab of solving a void in the footwear market!

Real answer ~ This may sound totally cliché, but I have met SO many inspirational women entrepreneurs throughout this journey. They are unbelievably smart, inspiring, creative, passionate, and most of all real. Receiving support, words of encouragement, sharing stories of the good, bad & ugly, hearing the real truth about the journey is a glimpse of what I’ve encountered from each of these women. It’s actually mind-blowing the support I’ve been surrounded with. There isn’t a jealousy or a competitiveness I’ve felt. Can you imagine a table of all these women sharing dinner together & swapping stories? It would be amazing.

What’s the best advice you’ve received?

Follow your gut…your “gut” is a compilation of all you’ve ever learned so listening to it is more valuable that you might think or give yourself credit for.
Also, know what you’re good at. I very clearly know what I’m good at, and what I’m not. I bring alongside of me those that add to my strengths & make up for my weaknesses. This makes for a pretty powerful team!

What person do you admire most?

My mentor who would prefer to be unnamed. He has set the example for building and scaling a successful business and continues to guide me from idea all the way to final product. Having someone who believes in you when you may doubt yourself has been instrumental in navigating this journey.

What are you most proud of?

Starting QUADSis with my 2 daughters watching & helping. Taking the leap to follow my passion has been scary, exhilarating, challenging, fulfilling….you name it.

What’s inspiring you right now in your collection?

The Brooke boot. It is so good. It exudes confidence, a touch of girly, & muted sass all at the same time. The bit of edge with a touch of class conveys the mood of girls right now. We are seeing this lug-sole style everywhere ~ from Olivia Rodrigo to Tayor Swift, you name it.
