J.C. Penney Q4 Loss Worse Than Expected
J.C. Penney reported a net loss of $552 million in the fourth quarter, compared with a loss of $87 million in the year-ago period. H&M Clothing Recycling Program is Now Live
On Feb. 21 H&M kicked off its worldwide clothing-recycling program. For each bag of used clothing donated (which can be from any brand) customers will receive a voucher for 15 percent off their next purchased item. The initiative is the most recent addition to H&M’s Conscious program.

Stuffed Animals Recalled Due to Laceration Hazard
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) in conjunction with Purr-Fection by MJC, Inc., of Tualatin, OR, has issued a voluntary recall of about 7,200 Beamerzzz Stuffed Animals with LED Flashlights. Carter’s Keeps up Double-Digit Growth
Children’s clothing company Carter’s has seen its earnings grow to double-digit levels the past two quarters following several quarters of decline. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters see earnings rising 33 percent to 84 cents a share and expect to sales to jump 10 percent to more than $650 million.

Kids Preferred Acquires Bunnies By The Bay
Toy manufacturer Kids Preferred has acquired toy, book and apparel brand Bunnies By The Bay. This marks the manufacturer’s first foray into infant and children’s apparel. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed but Bunnies By The Bay founders and senior staff will remain at the company.
