Online retailer Zulily hosts back-to-school photo contest to engage community.

The first day of school is the one day a year when students, teachers and administrators work to look their best, which is why online retailer Zulily is launching a week-long #zulilyPictureDay celebration.

From July 10-16, teachers, students and parents will use 100 words or less to tell Zulily why their school should win back-to-school photos. Voters choose the grand-prize winner, who gets a $500 Zulily back-to-school shopping spree, and a team of professional Zulily photographers to arrange a custom back-to-school photoshoot for teachers and students at their school.

The contest perfectly meshes with Zulily’s policy of working with the community and encouraging kids of all ages to express their own personal style, according to Jason Gruenig, vice president of Studio at Zulily. “What many of our customers find compelling is that when we photograph children’s merchandise we engage our community, and we photograph children without modeling experience,” says Gruenig. “There’s no greater feeling than sending a child to school on the first day looking and feeling their absolute best and being able to capture that confidence in a photo is priceless.”
