Kids In Distressed Situations (K.I.D.S.) has tapped Gayle King, editor-at-large for O, The Oprah Magazine as the mistress of ceremonies for its 25th anniversary gala fundraiser on December 1st. The event will feature keynote speaker Newark mayor Cory Booker, whose continuing mission is to set a national standard for urban transformation and family empowerment.

With proceeds benefiting millions of children in need, the gala will take place at Cipriani Dolci in NYC. As part of the event, K.I.D.S. will honor industry leaders for their outstanding contributions in helping improve the lives of children and families living in poverty and suffering from devastating disasters. Honorees include: John Goodman, executive vice president of Sears Holding Corporation; Oscar Feldenkreis, president and chief operating officer of Perry Ellis Corporation; and Wayne Elsey, founder and chief executive officer of footwear charity Soles4Souls.

“Each of our honorees and Mayor Booker embodies the passion and commitment of helping children and families achieve a better, more productive life, which has been the mission of K.I.D.S. since our founding 25 years ago,” says Peter Rosenthal, Chairman of K.I.D.S. and president of Rosenthal & Rosenthal. Since its inception, K.I.D.S. has provided more than 65 million underprivileged and disaster-struck children with close to one billion dollars of new clothing, toys, basic necessities, juvenile products, books and much more.
