• Catherine Moellering, CEO of the New York-based children’s wear manufacturer Best & Co., has been named to the 2009 Crain’s New York Business 40 Under 40 list. Nearly 1,000 individuals from the corporate, fashion, media and nonprofit worlds were nominated. Moellering was appointed president of Best & Co. in 2007 and in her first year shifted the brand’s mix of offerings from 90-percent third-party merchandise to 90-percent proprietary branded products, to optimize future growth potential. • Greensource, the eco-friendly division of The Source, an apparel manufacturer based in Seattle, has won a “Sustainability All-Star” award from Apparel magazine. The honor was based on the company’s involvement throughout its supply chain to keep toxic pesticides and other chemicals from affecting the environment. Greensource uses only organic cotton and sustainable fibers in its products and between 2007 and 2008 certified all five of its factories to the Global Organic Textile Standard. American Apparel, Levi Strauss, Patagonia and T.S. Designs also received this recognition.
