To celebrate Mother’s Day, Operation Shower, a nonprofit that coordinates baby showers for pregnant and expecting military families, has teamed up with 33 children’s manufacturers to provide eco-friendly baby showers for expectant women whose husbands are currently deployed overseas.
Thanks to donations by Cloud B, Childish Clothing, Sage Creek Organics and Vincent Shoes and many others, Operation Shower has created “Showers in a Box” containing gifts and surprises valued at several hundred dollars each. Sixty-five women in Fort Hood, Texas and Scott Air Force Base, Illinois will be showered on May 2 and May 9. “We are delighted to make bedtime routines more relaxing and easier for these families,” said Nader Hamda, Cloud B co-founder and COO. “We hope our contribution will help bring extra joy to this happy occasion.”
Operation Shower is making the showers as green as possible by using recycled paper goods; celebrating with real dishes, flatware, glasses and linens; creating décor that will be used as giveaways; and sending keepsake invitations on recycled cardstock. Operation Shower will also plant a tree via the Arbor Foundation in every baby’s honor. Visit www.operationshower.org.
