Tapping into current social media trends, juvenile products manufacturer Skip Hop is launching a new promotion called “Project Crowdsource,” through which consumers and industry experts will help select its next Duo diaper bag pattern and color. Introduced in 2003, the Duo bag is a consumer favorite and its design has been recognized with numerous awards. Now, Skip Hop is inviting moms and dads to participate in the design process.

The company is inviting consumers to visit the Project Crowdsource website to submit and share their ideas for the perfect Duo bag through Oct. 7. Visitors can vote for their favorite on the site. Skip Hop will tally the votes and announce the top three nominees on its website, Facebook and Twitter on Oct. 8.

Three finalists’ designs will be displayed for Round 2, which will take place at the ABC Kids Expo. There, industry experts will judge the entries and show attendees will be invited to vote for their favorite via text message. For every text vote, Skip Hop will make a contribution to the expo’s official charity, Kids In Distressed Situations (K.I.D.S.), which provides clothing, toys, basic necessities and more to children in need. The winning design will be announced on Oct. 20 and will go into production for worldwide distribution in Spring ’11.
