The first edition of Playtime New York—the U.S. counterpart to the show held in Paris and Tokyo—was held July 31 to Aug. 2 in Soho, where attendees had access to 63 collections from American and international designers. The show featured children’s clothing and accessories, maternity products, childcare items and more, and drew visitors from 18 countries.

“The energy at the show was very upbeat and the response from both exhibitors and buyers was very positive,” show director Sebastien de Hutten reported. “In addition to the wide variety of brands exhibiting at the show, everyone seemed to appreciate the beautiful, easy-to-access venue and enjoyed being in a hip, downtown neighborhood. We feel Playtime New York arrived at a time when the industry was ready to embrace a fresh concept and has tremendous potential to stimulate retailers by offering a show where business meets with pleasure.”

The company has yet to announce its next show dates but expects to hold the second U.S. edition in February/March 2011. For details, visit www.playtimenewyork.com.
